Petrified Forest NP
Wandering around the fallen logs in the Petrified Forest was a delight. So many interesting shapes, textures and colors from the mineral deposits in the wood as it turned to stone. Please view LARGE. All comments welcome.>=))>

Bill, this is great. In looking at the thumb, I was thinking that the colors look like stone but the shapes and textures look like wood, which had me very interested in your description. Finding that it really is both was good fun. Well seen and presented.

Bill, the detail is excellent in this closeup image. Wonderful colors and textures also. Our planet is amazing in natural items it has generated for us to enjoy. And of course photograph too…:sunglasses:

This is a nice up close look at the wood, Bill. The red and brown tones really pop here. And the details of the grain are a real bonus. I’ve driven through there once but unfortunately didn’t spend enough time.
