does it work as an ICM soft focus arty image??

Huw: Mellow Yellow! Great selective focus and just enough tonal separation to make this a fine capture. Well conceived, seen, captured and presented. >=))>

A very interesting composition, Huw. I like the soft focus on this one. I’m a bit ambivalent about the composition with the upper right anther being apparently sharpest and point out of the frame-maybe a bit of softening of it or cropping tighter? The overall effect of the image is very soothing.

Nice looking abstract Huw! I do think the image is suggestive and has enough detail to tell you what it is, if you are used to viewing flowers up close. I like the effect, it would make a good decoration somewhere.

ok will soften it in next version - thx

I love this kind of macro work, Huw. It’s one reason I’m loathe to dip my toes back into focus stacking (was into big time when I first got into macro). Or actually, maybe the reverse is true. I love this kind of macro work because I am loathe to do focus stacking.

I see Dennis’s point about the anther in the upper right. I don’t know that I would have thought of it or noticed it otherwise, but I think it’s a fair point for both processing and which anther is in greatest focus next time. I’m not sure what’s optimal. If it were more central, we might have wondered why all the others were not in focus. Could be one of those catch-22 things.

Regardless, nice work. These look great printed big and placed somewhere that needs a pop of color without too many competing colors.
