I like that hint of mist in the distance behind the trees in the middle of the frame. It’s a subtle thing but it does give the image a lot of atmosphere. Nice work!

I like the composition and the high contrast foreground and low contrast/misty background provide a lot of depth to the image, Karl. As to mood, I’m not feeling any special mood in this image personally, but I think mood is as much brought be the viewer and their associations as the image itself.

Hi Karl,

I like the composition and the tonality. The road itself reminds me of the Historic Columbia River Highway in Oregon. Old road building with natural rock “guard rails” of sorts. As for mood, it feels somewhat sacred: the road, the rock on the left of the road, the canyon. It took a lot to make a passageway here, so the destination must be compelling.

I would be interested to see it in color. You mention you wanted to go black and white to see if it better expresses the mood.

What mood does it evoke for you? Do you think it works better in black and white? Do you want to share the color version, or was color not interesting in it anyway?

Thanks @Marylynne_Diggs @Dennis_Plank and @Tom_Nevesely

The color version is posted - had to reprocess and post

Actually the color original is OK but wonder is taking color out evokes a better expression of what I saw - color version has been posted - thank you for your thoughts Marylynne!

Karl

Hi Karl
I usually work in colour and I find myself preferring the colour version .

The mono is lovely too, but the abstraction into mono is not really necessary where the dark greys and the blues of the raining clouds is gorgeous, and tell the story more strongly.

I’m sure others will add more thoughts but mine is a plea for the colour - for you to consider and do as you feel fit

Kind regards
