Image Description

Less ell known than the badlands of South Dakota, the Utah Badlands are equally impressive. In order to photographically capture this landscape, a drone is required

Paul, this is truly an excellent aerial view of this well known formation. Something not normally seen with ground level images is the unending erosion formations and alluvial fan debris surrounding the butte from this perspective. No thoughts for change at all… :+1:

WOW! Fantastic!! The light is so perfect to show off the erosion shapes, and you maneuvered to a great spot for drama! Wonderful colors, too! My only very small suggestion is to darken and lower contrast on the detail at the top edge.

Paul: Ditto @Diane_Miller! I might like a touch more room on the top but this is terrific as is. Was this taken with a Mavic Pro? Single capture or a panorama? I’m learning the panorama stitching technique with my Mini 3 Pro and liking the bigger files. >=))>

When I joined 5 other photographers for this workshop I was the only one who did not own a drone, in fact I had never flown one. One of the leaders gave me his and told me to fly it. I was petrified I was going to lose it. It was a Mavic Pro and the image was from a single capture. Needless to say it took a while to figure it out. Haven’t flown a drone since. But the images from this landscape were amazing. Paul

Thank you for your kind feedback

Thank you for your comments. This was a steep on the spot learning curve as I had never flown a drone, no less photographed from it

Paul, you’ve got a ton of drama in the formations leading to the Butte. The Butte looks good with interesting colors and details and I like that you’ve got it off center.

WOW !!! This is an Amazing image. The color and tone and just everything. Outstanding !!!

Alright, for someone who never flew a drone before, that is one heck of a first image. The light and color of the foreground with those lines is just a show stopper. A little surprised after that workshop you did get a drone and get hooked. Nice.

Thank you. I was literally flying blind and had beginners luck

I live in the Northeast and here the landscapes are not as dramatic from overhead compared to the Southwest. Plus I don’t get to the Southwest as often as would like.

Beginner or not, luck or not, you clearly have the eye!!
