Birch and red shrubs

I saw this as the light was fading, and so took it handheld. I wish I had take a minute to put up the tripod as I think it would benefit from some crispness. I took a couple of shots, one with the sky showing, one with a different arrangements of shrubs. But this one seemed to have the most punch.

Specific Feedback Requested

I like the contrast. I can’t decide if it lacks strong lines in the background, or if that swirling effect is ok. But I think if I can’t decide there is something not quite right in the lines. A like the subject though, and may return to play with this…thanks for looking, appreciate any feedback.

Charles, the red “background” sets off the trunk of this young birch tree beautifully. Even the largest view is acceptably sharp.

Love the contrast and the textures, Charles. Just a thought, when I zoomed in on the larger version, I liked the effect of a smaller scene. At least for me, I could see the contrast and textures much better. Maybe some version of a crop would work?
