Description
Botswana
The blacksmith lapwing or blacksmith plover is a lapwing species that occurs commonly from Kenya through central Tanzania to southern and southwestern Africa. The vernacular name derives from the repeated metallic ‘tink, tink, tink’ alarm call, which suggests a blacksmith’s hammer striking an anvil

That has to be one of the most elegant birds I’ve ever come across. The sharp focus on the ripples allows for a clear view of the reflection as well as the subject. I love the pale clear BG too. Gorgeous.
Beautiful pose. As @Mike_Friel noted, it’s a very elegant bird reminding me of a stilt. I like the pose and setting and the faint hint of morning light on the face and forewing. I’m wondering if you can tease a little texture out of the blacks without graying them out?
Really like the composition with the ripples and grass and the high key, minimalistic feel. Nice looking bird; had the same thought as Dennis about the blacks. Has an artistic feel; something worthy of displaying on the wall.
This is sooo lovely! What a pose the bird has given you. The pale background and foreground really show the bird off. I love all those little sticks and debris. It’s just enough without being too destracting. I like the little stick on the far left edge. It’s angled in and acting like a full stop.
There maybe more detail in the black, but it’s no big deal for me.
