Hi Sue,
Light angle seems a challenge coming from above the bird it seems - you handled it well though. Nice details on the bird even in the shadows. Pleasing BG. I’m wondering about a vertical composition here with the bird being placed off center to the left of the frame.

The detail and color in the feathers are nice and sharp. I agree with @Allen_Sparks about cropping. The space behind the bird takes up about a third of the composition. Since the bird is looking to the right, that space serves no purpose. Blue birds are such wonderful subjects.
