Bluebird Conditions? No problemo!

Shot of Aldeyjarfoss in the Iceland Highlands. This was shot in early September at mid-morning with blue skies and harsh light. My first thought was to leave the SLR in the car and just hang out at this waterfall. But I played with some multiple exposures, ND filters and blended two exposures to create this comp. A “shutter blend” if you will. Blend was then dodged and burned.

What could I have done differently for this composition to enhance the shot? Is there too much post-processing?

Wow, this is stunning, Joseph. Absolutely excellent in every way. Really nice work on the processing and shutter blend. I wouldn’t change a thing. It is an incredible image. Well done.

Thanks David

A wonderful capture. Its definitely stunning and vivid. The detail is excellent and you captured the force of the waterfall in all its glory. I would have liked to see a bit more of the source. Great image.

Joseph,

Wow, this is fantastic! Never would have guessed “bluebird” skies with what you have presented here. And I think you’ve done a masterful job with the blended frames and the water. The transition from fast to slow (shutter speeds) is done very well; I like having the more detail in the rushing water up top, blend in to the softer dispersement of the water in the pool.

The light and geology surrounding the falls is making for a super composition.

Well done all the way around. No nits or suggestions.
