What changed: Toned down the ULC a bit and made the “bird” go away. Alas, when I opened the RAW file it was not a bird but a simple dust spot. Thanks to Mark for noticing it. >=))>

About This Image
Chrissy and I went to visit one of our sons in Scottsdale for Christmas 2014. We went on from there for a winter tour of Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. We spent New Year’s Eve at Bryce. On the drive in the snow was falling steadily. I got some good images that afternoon and evening but the next morning we awoke to 8 inches of new powder. We had the park to ourselves and were able to make it to this overlook. It turned out to be one of the most significant snowfalls in many years. It was hard to leave this scene of wonder but this image never fails to bring me back to that magical morning. What a way to start a new year. >=))>

Bill, it’s a stunning view of Bryce with all of that snow. Two very minor details; 1) some brights burning in the upper left corner will let the clouds/sky show a bit better and 2) there’s a tiny black bird, that could be taken for a dirt speck. I’m amazed that you could get around.
This is a stunner! I love your composition; your eye follows from the stacks in the bottom to all the detail closer to the top. Such a fantastic view. I would second the comments on the ULC, although I wouldn’t do too much. I think there is something to be said for knowing the sun is just out of the frame.
I see the speck in the ULC as well, but I’d have a hard time knowing it was a bird!
I’ve never been to this part of the world, but it has always fascinated me. I think I prefer it blanketed in snow to give dimension to all those chimney stacks. I hear Bryce Canyon is even prettier than the Grand Canyon. One day…
Wow - great pic of an amazing place. Really enjoy the majesty of the scene - the contrasting reds of the rocks and the way this acts as a leading line cascading down from upper left with the the sun off screen down into and across the frame.
