By a river

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I liked the shape of the branch and the motion of the river behind it and wanted to try and make something interesting from it.

Specific Feedback

I’m not sure whether the motion behind the branches adds to the image or distracts. I think without it, it would probably just be a bit boring. Maybe it is anyway! As ever, I tend to post the images I’m least sure of and this is another example of that.

Dom, it’s an interesting group of branches. I think the land area in the backgrounds detracts from the image. If the image were cropped below the large limb, I think it would be more effective.

Thanks Don. I’ll play with some crops and also see whether I can just darken the land down a bit or something. I quite like the branch that comes in from left at the top of the image and I’ll lose that if I crop it further.
