Any pertinent technical details: I got this guy taking off near sunset in November at the Merced National Wildlife Refuge. It was taken with a D500, Nikon 2-500mm, Nikon 1.4 TC, 1/3200th, f/8.0, 700mm, 2898 x 1970, handheld.

There is a lot to like here: a sharp head and a good background. I only wish he gave you a better angle, but hey, you sometime take what you can get. He looks a lot like a Cinnamon Teal.

Beautiful light and the detail looks very good, Dave. I also like the background. While it’s flying away, you still got a good eye. You might look at taking a touch off the bottom and adding a corresponding amount to the top. A very nice image.
