The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Like last year, I made a long bike hike in France, camping in Brittany this time. And like last year, I experienced that this is a great experience, but not the way to come home with good images.
One of the few that I like for more than the memory of the trip, is this one. The backlight gives life to the vegetation in the FG and the coast is little more than a silhouette.
Specific Feedback
I hesitated about cropping a slice at the lower edge, but finally decided againts it. What’s your opinion?
All other comments are welcome. Did I convey the mood in the scene?
Technical Details
Olympus Stylus 1s, ISO100, f/8, 1/2000s, -0.7EV, f=46mm (35mm eq., the Oly is a compact).
RAW conversion in DxO PL6. Brightened the FG and increased contrast in the FG.
Cropped at top and bottom, from the original 4:3 aspect ratio.

This is a very nice scene and I love the backlight on the flowering grasses in the foreground. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the harsh light caused by the sun being so high and I wonder if this wouldn’t be a stronger image in black and white where you could play with the tones and contrast a bit more.
Han for me this is a splendid photo. One must look at it in the larger version for appretiating the beautiful lights, colors and details. As a former flower photographer I love most of all the big family of small flowers in the FG, the many shades of colors, the contrasts and the changing lights. I see a trend, a movement in it. For the composition I like as it is: I won’t cut even a tiny bit in the background and in the sky I think that you can’t cut a slide of the nice cirrus clouds and if you cut it all the sky would be empty. Since when I begun taking landscape photos I am always glad when I can bring home even a single nice photo from a travel.
Han,
The large view is a must to really enjoy those backlit flowers and I like your crop just fine. The light is getting a little harsh, but you handled it quite well IMO. As @Tom_Nevesely already suggested; I too could see this making a nice B&W. Sounds like you had a great trip.
Thank you @Tom_Nevesely , @Giuseppe_Guadagno and @Ed_Lowe for your comments. I agree with you, Giuseppe, that when you travel without photography as the main goal you generally bring home very few good images. Everything has it’s price @Tom_Nevesely and @Ed_Lowe : I’ll try a B&W conversion. Didn’t think of it yet, when I made the image I was triggered by the contrast between the cool, blue sea and sky and the warmer colours in the FG.
And yes, I had a nice trip!
