Comet over Hood Canal Bridge

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

We have been in Washington, NW of Seattle, visiting Jim’s daughter for a few days. I didn’t have my tripod or wide-angle, but we got some decent shots of the comet, and great shots of the Aurora.
We waited for nearly an hour to try to catch the comet, while the heavy streaks of clouds were very slowly moving out of the way.
We were about to give up when it popped out from under the clouds.

The comet was barely visible to the naked eye.
The free iPhone app "SkyView Lite " was extremely useful to find the comet, lining it up between Venus and Arterus. It also shows all the constellations.

Specific Feedback

all suggestions welcome. This is not a high-rez image, shot with a cell phone. After we get home, I’ll enlarge it and post other shots

Good get!!! By the time it got dark enough to see it here, it was behind a neighbor’s tree – so frustrating!! It will be a little farther behind sunset every day.

Well that’s a pretty cool phone grab. I haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but it shows up nicely in the picture. Did you have to zoom in quite a bit?

@John_Williams
John, this is full frame. Got some even better ones from our deck in Brookings tonight, right after we got home from Washington.
