What artistic feedback would you like if any?
Any pertinent technical details:
Both images are from the same location, plus or minus a few feet, same time of the year in two successive years. It may be apples and oranges, but I am curious if people have a preference. The 2017 photo was shot with f/16, 1/80 sec and the 2017, f/18 1/13sec.
Thanks,
Don
I definitely prefer the 2017 image. I really like the color and patterns. The 2018 image is too dark, especially in the dark tree reflections. Both a re nice images, and have their respective stories to tell.

The image on the left is really nice and probably more attractive. But the one on the right is also very nice. What I like about the one on the right is the rock in the upper left area with a leaf on it. It brings it back to reality. Both are really excellent in my opinion.
Don,
The 2017 image is a clear favorite for me. I really enjoy the vibrant colors and abstract nature of this image. The rocks anchor and provide context. I really like this one. The 2018 version works as well, but offers a completely different impression; mostly dark; almost has a portal look to it with the vibrant colors on the “other side” if that makes sense.

If I am choosing, it would be the 2017 edition. I find the colours, texture and pattern just a little more compelling. The 2017 version has a vibrancy to it that really holds my attention.
I’ll cast a vote for the 2017. The gold reflection looks like wonderful brush strokes in an impressionistic painting. Nothing wrong with 2018 but just too dark and foreboding for me at the moment.
I greatly prefer 2017 version. It’s warm and welcoming versus the somewhat ominous 2018.
Go with 2017. It has a more abstract feel to it than your 2018 version. Also, I prefer the color patterns present in the 2017 than the 2018 image…Jim
Thank you for your comments. Although I don’t have a problem with lots of dark, or even ominous, in my photos, I am liking the 2017 image better.
