Foggy woods are always fun to shoot. The left 1/4th of the image would have made a great image on its own.

Great atmospheric scene. I really like that one small leaf @top center.

hi Guy,
Hard to go wrong when you get great atmospherics like this. The fog has imparted a peaceful serene vibe to this scene that I find very inviting. I also like the fact that it is late in the season and most of the leaves have dropped giving the viewer this wonderful glimpse into the woods. @Igor_Doncov already mentioned it, but that left 1/4 side is very striking with that subdued soft light. Were you able to capture any images of just that section as I think it would also make for a stunning image. Beautifully done!

I too enjoyed that “Easter egg” leaf.

I do agree that fog mixes very well with winter forests, and agree that there are some intriguing options in the scene. (That close trunk on the left challenges me because it is so dominant; it feels like it is blocking as opposed to adding.)

Hi Guy, yes the fog can transform a ho hum scene into something mysterious and beautiful, as you’ve captured. I think the main advantage of fog is how it spreads the light so evenly. However, I do agree with @John_Williams about the large foreground tree; it kind of overwhelms the background trees, which are mostly pretty skinny in comprarison.

Hi @Igor_Doncov , @Ed_Lowe , @John_Williams, @Jim_Lockhart , Thank you for taking the time to comment on this image. I’m glad you like the mood of the image, but for me, the foreground grouping of trees, their positions and gestures are the key to what is going on. The background trees are simply observers and framework for the main interaction.
