Oh Allen, this is really a great shot, and so emotive. You can’t help but feel for the Kingbird, wanting to save her young. It does look like from the head hanging down on the chick that it is too late, even if the Kingbird could manage to talk the hawk out of it. The lighting, detail in all 3 subjects the composition, everything seems perfect to me. Excellent shot!
Love the story captured here. The hawks eye watching the kingbird dive and the prey in the talons really add to this behavioral capture. Well done.
