Dancing Sporophytes

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Backlighting on the moss sporophytes growing along side my pond did a fine job of setting them aglow. The steep side behind makes separating them from their surroundings simple.

Specific Feedback

The colors and the twisty stems makes this feel like the view of a nightclub dance floor. I did want some texture in the background to show the context.

Technical Details

R5, 180 mm macro, 1/60 s, f/18, iso 800 tripod and polarizer.

@Bill_Fach , Oops, yes it was a 20 shot stack at nearly closest focus.

Mark: I suspect this is a really small subject and applaud your POV and your DOF management (no stack?). Very cool subject and a fine capture. >=))>

Oh these are cool. Hunting for a group that is separated from everything else takes so much time, but it’s worth it! The red and green are so striking and I like that the moss is wet because it adds a lot of color that might not be there when dry, or at least different shades. BG is far and dark. What’s not to love?
