With our first sunny morning in a week, I went to visit the turtles along the C&O canal. They were out in force mostly cruising in water with a few sunning themselves. This big Snapping Turtle rose to the surface as I watched. It’s head was at least 3 inches wide…

Feedback Requested

This is a warm water “pool” so there’s lots of duckweed. In some places completely covering the water. I like the clear look at it’s eye and how the body disappears in the murky water.

Mark: I had to view this full size to see the eye. Great capture of this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one IRL so I’m glad you mentioned the size. Compared to the little guy I posted this must be a monster. >=))>
