I was a member of Fine Art America for many years and sold a few prints throughout this time. Unfortunately, the return for my effort was quite low and recently found myself contributing less new material. I thought about this for a long time so my decision was based upon the time commitment and lack of profitability. How do you feel about these art for sale websites? Thank you for your opinions…Jim
Jim, yes for sure it is hit and miss on FAA. I’ve been there for many years now too. I don’t have any issues of remaining with little effort of updating all my existing categories. So no real sweat there. I can share in your disappointment there and fully understand your POV too.
Oddly, not sure you noticed this, but about 2 months ago all of a sudden I started having a flurry of visitors from around the globe. I mean they were always there, but recently, I’m talking every nook and cranny known to mankind.
I’m sure that some of it is “auto-web-crawlers” but it’s much more intense then ever before.
Anyway, best of luck Jim on your decision going forward…take care !
Hi Paul. I was getting traffic, but recently never any purchases. There’s a lot of cheap, kitschy art on there and that certainly reduces the effectiveness of fine art presentations…Jim
Jim, your point is spot on. The sales are mostly poster style stuff of sports memorabilia and other junk. So yes, it does not see what we would consider to be “Fine Art” sales if you will. After building a few much older sites in the earlier days I just found it easier to migrate there. For the most part it became the site I could send friends and family to over time. As such I do not find myself venturing out to a newer updated platform this late in the game for me.
