Deep in the Bayou

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This was my first visit to the bayou at Caddo Lake, Texas. From what I’ve seen from other photographers, the ideal time to be here is in the fall. This photo was taken this past spring, but given the magnificent beauty of the place I will definitely have to return another time. The scene pictured here struck me instantly given the sharp contrast between the deep green color of the growth on the water surface, and the blue tint of the giant cypress trees rising up out of the water.

Hi Ted, I’ve never been there, but I’ve seen lot of images from the place in Automn too. Very please to see something new from the place. First I thought it was a desaturation of the top until I look closer and read your comment. I like how you develop the green part: it looks perfect not to green, too saturated, look very natural. The »xposure between the two parts is perfect and eyes moving well back and forth between the two. Maybe one suggestion, with this tiny patch of green between the two big trees, maybe a crop to delete the left part of the image, with a 5x4 or something close.
Great image

Thanks for your feedback Arnaud. I’m liking that crop too.
