Great discussion of a wonderful image!! I really like Bonnie’s idea – maybe with a lightening of the half-trunk.

@Bonnie_Lampley interesting idea to flip this. I normally consider this with many of my images, but didn’t think of it here. Probably because I got too focused on how to do a difficult clone job to remove the limb. The other aspect that I like with the flip is that the squiggly trees are now on the right, which makes them more noticeable.

I’m a big fan of this one Ed. The soft tonality along with the somewhat tortured figure of the cottonwoods creates an image with a tremendous amount of feel. Nice.

I’ll go against the grain here and vote for the original. To me the structure of the original has ever so slightly more balance and pleasing proportions than any of the reworks…though I might prefer rework #2 if I could get a bit more room on the left (a smidge more than even in the original)…however, this is academic. Great image!
