Description
One more from my time on the tundra near Iqaluit, Nunavut, showing the harsh yet stunningly beautiful landscape and in the background an inuksuk, a system of way marking, among other things, that has been used for centuries. I found it so easy to quickly become lost in the “sameness” of this area, even though, of course, it has incredibly complex variety and ways to know where one is. But to my uneducated eye it was mostly rocks and remarkable low tundra filled with a million shades of fall. This photograph documents a scene that could have been exactly the same a thousand years ago.
