I was excited to see this week’s WC because there is plenty of moss and lichen in my area. I tried to find a patch growing on a rock that was fairly uniform and waited until the sun was behind a cloud so the brilliant greens would show off.

Specific Feedback and Self-Critique

This scene attracted me because it is not typical of the moss I usually see.

Technical Details

Fujifilm XH-2, XF 16-80mm @ 120mm (35 mm equiv.), ISO 1600, f/10, 1/120s, AWB, hand held. Brightened exposure a bit, as well as adding a little contrast.

Jim, this is a good look at this collection of moss, with the green looking very inviting. You’ve captured the shape/structure of this moss well. It does seem too bright in the brightest tips. I’d suggest dialing back the hightlights while keeping about the same overall brightness.

@Mark_Seaver , thanks for your critique, I kept looking at the image wondering about them, so I will work on those highlights!
