Great Horned Owlets

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Taken at a local park adjacent to a par 4 on a Frisbee golf course. There was a tournament that day, well over a hundred people (who knew this was such a popular sport), but the owlets didn’t seem to mind all the visitors coming by to take a look. Of course, the parents were nowhere in sight.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

Gorgeous! And awesome to be able to get so close to them – they look very comfortable. Wonderful sharpness and details, with a lovely setting. Maybe the parents will be comfortable around people on a quieter day.

Great job on the depth of field with both youngsters in beautiful focus. If the course is that active, the chicks should be used to it. I suspect it’s not as active in the winter when the adults pick a place to nest. The only thing I might do to this one is bright the iris of the rear bird’s eye up just a little to make it just slightly more noticeable.

Hi Allen, great look at these chicks - nice to see both eyes of the chick in front. Fine details and exposure.
