I took this image in August at the procession of the Buddha’s tooth in the Sri Lankan town of Kandy. Conditions for photography were awful, as the light was low and extremely variable with torches, etc., and there were throngs of on-lookers to intrude on any image. But I somehow managed to get this shot of an amazing tusker. In all my years of looking at elephants in the wild, I have never seen tusks like this. A word about lighting and the Sony mirrorless a9. This image was shot in auto ISO at 25,600 ISO! And the grain was manageable with Topaz de-noise. Any suggestions about how to handle these kinds of problems?
That is an impressive animal and set of tusks! Good job with the image under tough conditions.
