The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
The start of the second day of my recent excursion in Yosemite was after a small storm that rolled through. It snowed in the high country the night before, but only rained down in the Valley. It was literally shoulder-to-shoulder with other photographers at Tunnel View, but I wanted to catch the Valley with the fog rolling through it and was hopeful for some post storm dramatic light. This was the best light that morning. Probably not as dramatic as it could have been. I do have some other compositions from earlier in the morning before the golden light appeared that I processed as B&W that I will post later for your feedback.
Specific Feedback
I know this is not a unique composition, but any suggestions on processing that might bring more drama into it would be much appreciated.
Technical Details
Nikon D850, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 MF lens at f8, 1/125 sec at ISO 100. Processed in ACR and PS. Nothing special processing-wise.

This is a lovely view and icon or not, I don’t think I’ll ever tire of seeing it. I can’t however imagine it being a pleasant experience shooting this with all of the other photographers crowded around me.
In terms of processing, the only thing I would change, and keep in mind this is all personal preference would be to bring up the exposure a little bit on the land portion of the image.
Youssef, it may be a classic icon, but those clouds in the valley are a great addition. This may be deliberate on your part, but it feels somewhat low in mid-tone contrast.
Thanks for the suggestion on more contrast on the land. I bumped the contrast up slightly. I thought the trees needed it but for some reason when I tried earlier it just did not look right. How does the repost look?
It’s an icon for a reason. The composition is from nature and the conditions you show up for - so glad you did. Really astonishing low clouds. Repost with the reduced contrast feels more like the scene to me - a bit ethereal and hopeful. I really like the subtle colors and shading. It’s such a living - breathing landscape and you did it so well.
Icons are icons for a reason. This is an exceptionally well done image of this icon, too. I like it as-is but would also be interested in seeing a black and white conversion, with high contrast and really brilliant whites. I think there’s room for both color and b&w!
Hi Youssef,
Icon or not I never tire of this majestic view! The fog in the valley floor is sublime and adds so much mood to this scene and I think your small tweak with the contrast on the rework elevates an already beautiful image another notch. I could also see this as a B&W, so I am looking forward to seeing your version. Very nicely done.
Hi Youssef,
I try my best not to critique the photographers vision, therefore I understand your edit. I can also see a lot of posibilities with B&W and something a bit more saturated and sharpened. I think they would all work.
