Infrared Sunset at Shiloh

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Driving around Shiloh National Military Park all day, I ended up at this field as the sun was setting. The lengthening shadows caught my eye; I pulled over and took out my infrared camera. I had a 590 nm filter on the camera and took the shot from inside my truck (it was a long day), doing my best to isolate the artillery pieces. After editing, I really like this image.

A bit surreal to be sure. I like the complementary colors and the dominance of the tree. The cannons though I wish weren’t intersected with the horizon line. Getting low and close would have done the trick, but then you’d have to lose the big tree. Difficult for sure, but a very interesting rendition.
