Feedback Requested

Left the fir branch in as a compositional idea - have darkened it - dont know if it should stay?
It does add a third layer to the composition - which adds to the hidden feel of the image and definitely part of the woodland, as well as making the image more 3D

Technical Details

Very nice idea and image! I find the little OOF branch in the foreground quite distracting, and also I feel there is too much empty space in the left part of the photo… Maybe you could try a strong crop of the fungi, even though I think I understand the reason why you wanted to have so much space “off the edge”…

An interesting composition, Huw. I like the small in the frame cluster of mushrooms and their location on the edge of the stump. I do think the part of the fir branch in front of the stump should go as I keep wanting to brush it out of the way. The second mushroom back is rather bright on our left of the star’s stem and tends to pull my eye. Here’s a quick and dirty revision for your consideration.

Huw, I love the mushrooms, the log, and the bokeh background in the upper part of the photo. I find the horizontal line of the fir branch distracting, even in Dennis’s more blurred revision. I want to see more Bokeh in that area and/or a tighter crop on the left.

Thanks @Antonello_Provenzale @Alice and @Dennis_Plank for your advice. I love my original - but thanks for the steer as I just love OOF things too much
