I love it when the cholla is backlit like that. And the color palette is a lovely muted fall softness to contrast the prickly backlit spines. Because of the backlit nature of the cactus, its form/shape is the story here. What I like about the shape is how it leans out to the right. I would like to see more room to the right for it to (seemingly) reach into. Or, in other words, for the sake of the composition, have the cholla positioned more to the left side of the frame, with more open space to the right. Does that make sense?
Thank you @Connie_McClaran for your comment. I agree, but I cropped where I did, because there was a little OoF cholla on the right. Not sure which is the better way to go.
Love this crop! If anything, I think the little guy to the right adds to the story, balancing the weight of the Big Guy on the left. Or, if it’s within your purview, clone it out and see what you think.
Ronald, the lighting sure makes that Cholla look dangerous…like the actually are!!! It also shows of the shape very well. I too think that the small addition on the right adds a nice coda to the “story”.
