Description

Wild Lorikeet, outside of Queensland, AU
I’ve seen lots of lorikeets in petting zoos, but nothing prepared me for flocks of hundreds in the wild.
Whatever this tree is, there were at least 5 species of birds snacking on the secretions. It was difficult to isolate a single branch and bird. A few intruding branches cloned out.
The rather odd BG is from a BG pink flowering tree. I had to climb on top of the truck to get this perspective.

Specific Feedback

is the BG too weird?

Love this photo! I like the background, it’s very eye-catching!

It is an odd background, Sandy, but it works and with the explanation, I don’t have a problem with it. On my monitor, it looks like you could stand to pull the yellow saturation down just a bit. There’s a loss of detail in the yellow patch on the neck and some of the brighter oranges are starting to go as well. The composition is very nice.

Nice catch Sandy and I like the feeding pose with the unique BG. It’s a treat to see these tropical birds. I agree with Dennis on bringing down the saturation some. Interesting pose and perspective.

Hi Sandy
Your climb to the top of the truck, proved to be worth the effort. Very cool photograph.
