Image Description

I spent the Christmas period in the Peak District and had one day I could get out to take a few pictures, I was incredibly fortunate with the conditions - the valleys filled with fog and the sun breaking through. The kind of conditions you so often hope for only to be met with overcast skies and horizontal rain… in the UK at least! There were many other photographers out that day, all of us rushing around desperately trying to make the best of the conditions. This isn’t really the sort of thing I normally shoot so after a while I scurried away to take pictures of a nearby quarry.

Specific Feedback

I’ve looked at this image quite a lot and I’m drawn back to it, but each time, probably because I took it, I can’t evaluate whether it’s actually interesting or not. I like the light, fog and the sillouetted trees but I feel too close to it to ‘judge’ it. I also think the edit could use a few tweaks.

I really like it! I think it may be a bit easier to relate to, though, if the exposure were just a tad lower, with maybe some tweaks to more contrast. I don’t know your processing but in LR it could be maybe a touch more Clarity or Dehaze, if you haven’t already pushed that as far as works well. That could really bring out the wonderful sunbeams.

Thanks Diane. Yes I am using lightroom, I’ll have a bit more of a play with it and post an update.
