My favorites of 2018 are mostly wildlife photos. I purchased my first lens with decent reach (Sony FE 100-400 GSM) and focused on birds and mammals (pun intended) for most of the year.
This photo is a male Merganser Duck that swam by me while I was sitting on shore shooting photos of Sea Otters.
This is a fine shot, Gary. Your exposure is really impressive getting detail in the eye and retaining texture in the blacks while keeping the whites in check, and the bird is well placed in the frame. I’d be proud to have taken a shot like this.
The duck is perfectly placed in the frame and the textures and details are wonderful, Gary. I also like that bit of water disturbance out in front of the bird. You definitely put that new lens to great use. Gorgeous work.
