Description
I imagine some of you have seen these amazing roots when you visited the Nu’uana Pali overlook where King Kamehameha defeated the Oahu army on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. I don’t know what kind of tree this is, but it isn’t a banyan tree that also have some amazing roots. The wind was blowing at 40-50 mph at the cliffside on the cloudy day we were there.
Specific Feedback
I’m not sure this conveys the size of these huge, amazing roots as well as I’d hoped to. I’d be interested to hear your initial reactions and feelings about this tree and this scene. Thanks for taking a look and for any suggestions or comments you care to leave.

Ed, I really like how you have emphasized the amazing roots by placing them so large in the foreground and use of a slow shutter speed to demonstrate how fast the wind was blowing. They balance each other very nicely. Without the slow SS, it would be all about the roots and not about the entire tree. Very fine image. I wonder if this is an iron tree.
Ed, while the roots stand out, what catches my eyes the most is the shape and motion of the tree against the grey sky. The two work together for a thoroughly enjoyable view.
Hi Ed, what a remarkable tree you have shared with us. In my pre-coffee state this morning I see it as an angry spirit waving it’s arms in warning. Powerful image. Great stuff…
This is wonderful Ed. The roots of the tree are totally amazing as is the sense of motion created with those blowing leaves in the wind and your low POV is perfect for emphasizing both of those things. The subdued overcast lighting is perfect for showing all the details in the root system. Very nicely done!
