About This Image

I didn’t have a lot of time to get this shot but liked the eye peaking through the feathers. I’m not crazy about the perch but was’nt sure what to do about it. I guess it’s part of the story.

Hi Alice, nice catch with your phone! I like the pose, feathers, and peek-a-boo eyes too. Nice exposure on the whites especially for an iphone grab shot. Did you further process this image or is it straight from your phone?

I like the story it seems to tell. What a great close encounter this must have been!

Thank you Allen, I did some post processing to clean up some shadows but not a lot. I just got lucky

This is fantastic, Alice. I don’t do much bird photography and rarely comment on bird images here, but this one is immediately captivating. The gesture, the color palette and contrast. And the eye sneaking a peek! Just wonderful!

Thank you Marylynne!

Very well done, Alice. One doesn’t often get a decent bird image with a phone, but this is the exception to that rule. the image is excellent and it must have been a great experience. As one who is very fond of “peek-a-boo” images, this really has a lot of appeal to me.

Thank you Dennis!!

Hi Alice

And why am I carrying around $6,000 of camera and lens? Nice work; you did a great job capturing this Pelican.

Hi Peter, Believe me I’ve asked myself the same question but I always enjoy going out with my “big” gear. I’m not sure home many more years I’ll be able to sustain that though.
