Nice angle Allen. The detail is superb and you have their rather odd eye displayed very well. The leaf doesn’t bother me in this one-it seems to add to the scene.
Nice capture! The greens are very interesting. But colors are not directly captured by a sensor – they depend on arbitrary parameters such as the profile and WB, and auto WB is only accurate when there is a “normal” range of colors in the image. So these are the colors that somewhat arbitrary software parameters rendered. Considering all the variables, the colors we get are often pleasing, but not reliably accurate. And the power of suggestion is a powerful factor.
I like the placement of the grebe within the frame. I like the reflection and the amount of habitat. The leaf is an added bonus. Greens and browns are such a harmonious pairing.
Allen, I really like this! The greens are nice and contrast very well with the brown grebe. Love that leaf, and the grebe’s detail and pose. Fine work !
I was wondering, though, what an alternate version might look like, with the grebe “popped” a bit more, and the BG greens slightly subdued. This is what I came up with - certainly not better, but just an alternative.
A very nice scene with this juvenile grebe in the greens, Allen. You had a nice light which makes the grebe stand out and the large image is very sharp with excellent details. As you mentioned, the floating leaf is a nice addition. The composition is also pleasing.
