Don,

Great composition. It gives me the sense of a miniature for some reason. I like the subtle atmospheric haze and the lovely back/side lighting that just makes the tree glow. The shadows give the whole photo a 3D effect. Nicely done.

Thanks, Youssef. “It gives me the sense of a miniature for some reason.” Now that you mention it, I see what you mean.

Very nice Don! I can see why @Igor_Doncov came to mind with that shadow play. I especially like how you composed that big one in the bottom center.

I’m of mixed opinion about the haze. I normally love clarity, but this does have a bit of a smoky mood.

Thanks, John.

Good use of light. The backlight makes all subjects glow. The long shadows give you nice depth and space.

Thanks, Igor. Backlight is tricky to work with but it’s wonderful.

Very nice image! Ethereal I think. I especially like the tone contrasts between the upper (grayish) and lower (warmer) backgrounds, and of course the long shadow of the central tree. I wonder whether decreasing a little (just a touch) the highlights could improve the image - or maybe not and it could destroy its magic. Maybe worth trying…

Very nice backlighting on those emerald trees against a vaguely maroon coloured soil. The light and opposing colours, makes this zing and it has worked extremely well.

Antonello, Ian, thanks for the thoughtful comments.
