Yes the sky is very dramatic. I like the composition with it taking up the majority of the frame. I have never calibrated my monitor, so don’t know how it looks on other screens, but the mountains look way too dark. I would open them up quite a bit.
Hi Delton,
The clouds are quite lovely in this desert landscape. My first thought was the mountains are way to dark so my brother @Michael_Lowe’s rework took care of that nicely. My other thought was wishing that the FG boulders did not merge with that BG mountain. Maybe play around with the tones a bit to see if you can get some seperation there. If you can get back to this particular location I would try to stand more to the left and see if that gives you some separation. It sounds as though you really enjoy the area.
I like what @Michael_Lowe did with opening up the deep shadows on the mountains. Overall, the composition works well, and I love the sky. You could raise the brightness and/or the saturation of the yellow bushes just a bit.
Stunning image, fabulous composition! I find the original much more compelling because of the intensity of the blue sky against the darkness of the mountains.
Dear Delton Young, thanks for sharing this image. An alternative option would be to make the shadows in the mountains even darker, turning them into silhouettes, and experimenting with a crop that would make the jagged contour of the mountain relate to the sky and clouds.
