Description

Every spring, this floodplain in the Myakka River State Park explodes into bloom. I was struck by the contrast between the dead and decaying tree trunks, likely the victims of one of our many hurricanes, and the new growth and flowers stretching almost to infinity beyond.

Pieter, the dark twisted stump (and it’s Spanish Moss) stand out well against the variety of bright colors in both the land and the sky. I think the branches coming in on the right add a nice touch of framing and putting the viewer right there.
