Roseate Spoonbill

Here is a small in the frame Roseate image. Taken at a Louisiana rookery.

Allen,

You have a stunning bird here with that lighting set up against a dark green background. If the resolution still holds up, I think a tighter crop would work, too. Hoping to see more from this rookery!

Nice light on the Spoonbill and perch, Allen. It really looks good against the mottled dark green background. A lovely image.

I like the contrast between the spoonbill and the background. I could see a tighter crop as well.

Great job of handling this tricky exposure. Stunning picture. I agree with the suggestion for a tighter crop.

Allen, I’m one of those who often prefers a more open composition, because to me the environment plays an important part of a wildlife image. I tend to agree that a little tighter crop would work, but to my eye the Roseate seems a little soft. Short of being able to crop, I might suggest bringing up the levels of the nice green surroundings. If I had to guess this is Jefferson Island (?)

Hi Bill, yes this was at Jefferson Island.
