First of all, Jitin, I want to say welcome to NPN. I do hope you find the site to be everything you hoped it would be. I know I have sure enjoyed it, and learned so much from other photographers as well.
A very nice first image to post of the Ruddy Shelduck. I like the splash of water coming from him taking off from the marsh. The wing position is nice, and great composition. I see that you have submitted this to the Wildlife Critique rather than Avian Critique, so I will move it over for you.
I am so looking forward to seeing more of your images. Again, welcome to NPN.
I really like your composition and wing position in this image. A pretty duck that is not common but occasionally seen in North America. The image is moderately noisy and could be slightly sharper. I’d certainly like to know your settings so that I can offer an educated critique. Welcome aboard…
Welcome to NPN. Thanks for sharing your image and I’m glad to see that Shirley moved it from Wildlife to Avian.
Nice crisp image fo the duck. It’s always helpful if you’d provide some comment on what you’d like feedback on and provide some EXIF information to help us understand a bit more about what was going on when the image was captured.
Again, Welcome to NPN. Look forward to seeing more of your images.
Thanks for your encouraging comments, Exif details are F8, ISO1000 & SS 1/2500
Thanks for a prompt response, as an amateur photographer always like to have comments for improvement
Welcome Jitin, It is a really nice take off pose with wings fully up and bird nice and square to camera. I also like how the bird is positioned in the frame with room to fly into and still good room around the bird. It looks like really nice duck habitat that you captured as well. Looking forward to more.
Thanks for your encouraging comments
With the added info you provided on EXIF, my biggest suggestion would be selective noise reduction to the background. Pretty noisy for ISO 1000. I worked the image a bit with to deal with the noise, and also create a richer black point. Here’s the result. You’ll need to look at the larger versions of both to compare the noise difference. See what you think.
Welcome Jitin! A lovely first post with good composition and a compelling wing position on the shelduck. It’s also always good to list your camera and lens to help us give you better critiques. Looking forward to more of your work.
Welcome to NPN and the Avian forum, Jitin. I don’t have anything to add to the critiques you’ve gotten, but I’ll add my compliments on the excellent composition and wing position. The exposure looks spot on.
Welcome to NPN, Jitin. Really nice take-off pose; I like the water droplets and the overall composition. The NR Keith did helps.
