The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
This is an image of a backlit saguaro cactus, emphasizing the new / young arm and the glow around the young arm.
The image was shot in infrared (720nm) and converted to B&W using SEP in Ps. As to ‘technical’ specs, it was shot with a 100mm macro lens, 1/100 second, f/8, ISO 400.
Hi David and welcome to NPN. This is quite a striking image to start out with. Not sure it’s exactly minimalist, but it certainly is eye-catching. If you hadn’t said it was done with an IR camera, I wouldn’t be able to tell. Not sure what that added, but it was something. The sun’s direction added some nice contrast and light areas to focu son in this otherwise pretty subdued palette. I just love those little cactus arm nubs when they are starting out. David, welcome to NPN. This is a fine first post, where the backlit glow in the edge spines is special. The details in the shadowed side also look good, with the softly cloudy sky another good addition. I do agree with Kristen that this view is not especially minimalist as the cacti mostly fills the frame. It is a excellent look at this Saguaro, where the new arm is a great addition. Did you by any chance try a vertical? That might fit the tall cacti better, but would deemphasize the new arm somewhat.
