Some more images from Sanibel

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This post will probably close out the images I have to share from my Sanibel trip in late January. I did see some white pelicans there which come there during the winter months.
I’m also including a Reddish Egret and White Ibis in flight.

Any comments appreciated.

The flight shots are gorgeous! The touchdown is nicely timed with a fabulous reflection but I wonder about lowering the contrast in the raw stage. Darks look blocked up and lights lacking in detail, especially the head.

All very pleasing flight shots. My favorites would be the middle two for the watery (non-sky) background. In the landing pelican the yellows seem a bit washed out compared to the one flying-maybe a boost in saturation?

Beautiful catches all, Allen. The exposure in the landing pelican seems a bit too high. I’m sure you have room in the raw file to adjust, but I’m not seeing any detail in the whites on the body (admittedly on a laptop without a calibrated screen).

Hi Allen
I know the first shot of the white Pelican is against a plain blue sky, but I think it has the best framing and detail.
Peter

More excellent images! I especially like the pelican reflection and the white ibis- they are both such goofy-looking birds.
Thanks for sharing all your sanibel images - it’s a wonderful place and I sure wish I were there

Great flight images all, Peter. I particularly like the second image of the pelican landing with the wake from the pelican’s feet. Lighting is also excellent in all the images, but as others have mentioned the pelicans, particularly the second, seem a little too bright. I think you should be able to bring out more details in the plumage.
