About This Image
Every morning, wake up at 5:30 and head out to look for sleeping insects for image stacking. This morning, two wind gusts ruined a stack of a 120 images, so I’ll stick with a single image taken with a tiny lens aperture for now. This is the purple subspecies of the variable dancer which is also known as the violet dancer. I removed an OOF brown stem on the RH side because it did not seem to belong in the comp. My first images were taken with an aperture of f22, but found that f11 produced to the best BG.

This image is about color. What do you think about the comp regarding the colors as presented.
Initially, I thought the color of the dancer was off (should be bright blue), but after reading about the image the color is explained. I have never seen the purple version, but I sure like the color here.
I’d just clone out the small pale line near the top of the photo, above the wing. F22 could have given a tiny bit more sharpness, but this is still outstanding, especially on a windy day.
Jim, the dancer’s colors stand out nicely against all the green. The dancer’s mix of purple and blue is interesting. Is it possibly a youngster still going for full purple? The two leaves of the Bee Balm balance the viewing well.
