Description

Sitting unobtrusively in the kayak is one of my favorite things to do. Well as unobtrusive as a human can be in a red, twelve-foot plastic boat. Still, if you are quiet all kinds of things show themselves eventually; like this painted turtle on a lovely nurse log. I have several portrait shots, but I also like this larger view of the environment that just says summer to me. The flowers are water smartweed and each one is actually dozens of tiny blossoms. They are very popular with all kinds of pollinators from beetles to wasps.

Kris, the color contrast between the pink flowers and the green grasses is quite eye catching. I’m scrolling up and down, trying to decide if the dark forest adds or subtracts… It helps place the scene, while a pano crop emphasizes the colors…
