Aperture recommendations will vary with the crop factor of the camera too as far as focus is concerned. An aperture of f/16 on a D850 would be similar to f/11 on your D3400. (16 divided by crop factor of 1.5.)

This is a beautiful scene. I love the remaining mist that softens the sunrise. I’m a sucker for clouds so I would darken the sky a bit. And I feel there is not alot in the immediate foreground.
I used the highlights and brightness sliders in Photos to darken the sky and cropped a bit from the bottom.
