This photo caught my attention due to the unusual brightness of the sun. Usually the sun is the brightest object in the scene, but here the sky is brighter. I was suspicious of that but then I recalled my time in west Africa at sunset, due to atmospheric haze, you could look directly into the sun with no adverse effects as it was not any brighter than the sky.

Was that the case when this photo was made?

Indeed it was - This is the time of year that the locals burn the grass just before the rain and the sky is full of haze. It is called “let’s burn Africa Week” :upside_down_face: :laughing:
I had to edit the sun nevertheless though, through IR contamination it had turned yellow with a bright red line around it… this is the way I saw it.
