Description
I was at a closed and old state park that is way out of the way in the state of Washington. I had walked in hoping to see some wild horses, or some black bears that frequent the old historical fort. Imagine my surprise to see, for the first time in the wild, a bobcat! I was a safe distance away and in the remains of an old “fort building”. I’m just sharing this because it was such a surprise, and delight, for me to be able to just watch him/her doing its thing without being afraid of a human. What a gift!

Wow - great catch of these elusive guys! Excellent pose with great eyes and ear tufts! Seems a little tight (looks like you were trying to avoid bright upper areas,) but a little Gen Fill, if you care to use it, will expand the top and bottom. You also might brighten the subject a hair, then darken the BG a bit too, to make the cat stand out better.
Really sweet image!!
So cool! A nice capture! With the cat in the shade and light on the BG, maybe not much leeway but it might be possible to bring up the color Temp on the FG and mask it off the BG a little.
I rarely see them but a KITTEN triggered our door cam the other day! When I got to the door it was peering in the sidelight!! It sauntered away, uninterested in my offer of Fancy Feast. An adult set off the driveway cam a couple of week ago and neighbors have seen adults lately.
You must’ve been thrilled, Judi. What a great find.
To me the temp looks about right, and the exposure’s pretty good given the shaded subject. I suppose it would be possible to bring it up a bit to show off more details in the fur, but I think your presentation works.
Thanks for your input. I was thrilled for sure. I thought, at first, it was a coyote because I only saw movement of something, and then it was behind a tree. This is a first for seeing one in the area I was in, and I’ve been going there for years. It was at a old historical fort/park that is closed for the season but we are allowed to walk in. I was able to “hide” in an open building (no back door, or front door etc), and it knew “something” was in there, but not what. It seemed to be hunting and doing its thing, and looked back a few times, then continued on. It was a real thrill for me to see it! Thank you!
