Description
I went down to a couple of national wildlife refuges yesterday to see what I could see and came upon this coyote snooping, and hunting in the grass and weeds close by. I stopped and got out of the car and started blasting away. After two hunting/pouncing peformances (I got some shots) it started walking right toward me! It KNEW I was there, just didn’t seem to mind. This shot was taken at around 15 yards as it walked right on by… No foaming mouth, no aggressive behavior, just a friendly guy…

Dave, this is a great look at the coyote. You caught a good walking pose with all legs and eye visible. This is quite tight in the frame, so I’d suggest more room all around. I’d also darken the BG a good bit to allow the coyote to “pop”, and perhaps also darken the coyote.
Nice catch!
Wow! I just love the look the coyote is giving you. Maybe checking out your pockets for a morsel.
I am not able to comment on the colour of the canine but agree with Sandy on considering darkening the BG. I would also give him/her a little more breathing room, particularly on the bottom edge.
I would be well pleased to have this image in my collection.
It was very close hence the tight cropping. Mayhaps I will add some content aware fill around it, then play with the subject’s light/dark/saturation some and look at darkening the BG. Thanks for the ideas.
Oh wow - what a great moment. Even though we have tons of them, I’ve never seen one close or gotten a photo. Missed one by probably less than an hour the other day judging by the tracks I saw on an out-and-back walk in the woods. I love the relaxed saunter you caught and the expression is so chill. You could do some bg and subject enhancing adjustments for contrast. Not sure why you expected aggressive frothing though. From what I understand, they are fairly relaxed around humans and they don’t mess with adults if they don’t have to. Fantastic eye contact and I think this shows just how comfortable they are with us at times. Even though as a species, we’ve behaved pretty terribly to them.
So, what caused me to briefly think that it might have rabies was as it was coming straight at me. Rabid critter behavior. Turned out to have been a super enjoyable encounter for me.
It looks better to me, but putting the revision in the original post will let us flip from one to the other in the viewer. Scrolling is ok, but not as immediate.
A cool subject and nice expressions, but it needs overall some more space.
Regarding the repost. you have added the canvas at the bottom, but signs of cloning are visible, light colored grasses are not supporting the frame and grasses near the feet are sharp, then there is blur patch and again sharp grasses, which look bit unnatural.
