About This Image
This is an impressive waterfall even by Iceland standards. You can feel from hundreds of yards away. I imagine there’s even more water coming off it after a storm. The one person standing in front of the waterfall to me it’s a good indicator of scale. It also conveys the power of this particular cataract.
There are so many amazing waterfalls in Iceland and it is pretty easy to get there in a reasonable amount of time. It is a very tourist friendly country but it is not cheap anymore.

David: Iceland is on my bucket list and this falls is one reason. A classic shot of this marvelous cataract. It definitely conveys the power. My only recommendation for improvement is to get the guy to wear a red jacket the next time. Wonderful image. >=))>
David, I think this one is very good. I don’t generally like seeing humans in landscape shots because they steal all the attention. But in this case the fellow provides a sense of scale. I don’t see anything you could improve. Well done.
David this is wonderful. When describing the power of a waterfall with a photo, I think it’s essential to NOT use the ever popular long exposure effect. They soften, they promote a sense of calmness, which is a lovely thing. The amount of detail you’ve allowed here really shows instead the power of the pounding water. It’s deafening! It’s changing the shapes of rocks for heaven sakes! To me your image here speaks to that power. Love the story. Great job.
I like this composition from this familiar place. The human figure is critical to feel the force and scale of the waterfall. How did you manage to get this image without a slew of others in the frame?
