The smiling Rock

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This is the same rock I shared a picture of last week. Some of you wondered whether a vertical shot wouldn’t have been better.

So here you are…

Specific Feedback

Is there anything that I could improve in post-processing?

As always, every feedback is welcome.

This is a surprisingly different waterflow from the previous version! Was the water being pushed around by wind?? I love the detail in the ribbons of water – perfect SS to semi-freeze the motion and still show the larger patterns!

I love them both! No nits on any aspect of either!

I like this one a lot, Jens. Good composition. The subtle green in the top half is appealing. The colors are understated and believable.

Jens,
The processing looks spot on to me and I love the green moss on the rock wall. I am also enjoying the textures in the water flow also. I can see another composition with the bottom cropped off just above the rocks. Just a twofer if you will. Something like this. I think that enhances the moss a little more. Just my opinion of course. Beautifully done!

Thank you all for your feedback.

Very well observed. You are absolutely right. The wind was blowing quite strongly. It changed the scene drastically depending on where the water hit.

Thank you very much, Ed. I really like that crop. I’m going to play with this idea, as I have tons of shots with different water structures.

There it is @Jens_Ober ! a lovely image.
